William "Bill" Papa'iku Haole Jr.'s Obituary
William “Bill” Papa’iku Haole, Jr, 86, was born in Honolulu and raised in Kaka’ako and Kalihi. He was born to William Haole Papa’iku and Julia Kapi’ioho. He was the youngest of 10 children, and the only boy. Bill graduated in 1952 from Farrington High School. After high school, he worked different jobs in Waikiki for a few years, his longest gig was a bouncer for Don Ho, until he became a Longshoreman at Matson Navigation Company in 1955. During those years, Bill was also active in the community, and coached pop warner for many years in Kaneohe and Waimanalo. He was one of the founding members of Pili Hui Football club and he also coached as well as played semi-pro football for Kaneohe Hawks. In 1976, he, along with his beloved wife, Lila-Ann, moved from He’eia Keia to Waimanalo, when they purchased their forever home. This is the home where they raised the youngest of their 11 children, and the place that holds so many memories for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Retired from Matson, he was a Longshoreman and Crane Operator for 47 years. Our beloved dad and papa passed away on June 4, 2018. He is survived by his children, William “Boysie” P. Haole, III, Valerie Haole, Wendell “Wengie” Haole, Cheryl “Pua’ala” (Vern) Niau, Naomi (Jeff) Bleakley, Donna (Sid) Haole-Valenzuela, William “Baba” P. Haole IV, April “Pinky” Enomoto-Haole, James Haole, Alberta “Nakuea” Haole and Shayna (Brandon) Conner; along with his grandchildren, Jeanine, Kyleen, Keli’i, Justin, Crystal, OB, James Jr., Ulysses, Sarah, Kiri, Kala’i, Kealoha, Cole, Layne, Celine, Christian, Makamae, Tasha, Tiare, ‘Elima, Solomon, Isaac, Abraxas, Amber, Elijah, Titus, Allie, Josiah, Micah, Kayla and Ashley and 24 great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Momi Hamili. Memorial Services will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. July 10, 2018, visitation at 5:30pm, services at 7:00pm. July 11, 2018, visitation at 10:00am, services at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest at 1:00pm, at Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery. Celebration of Life reception to follow.
