My deepest condolences to the daughters of Babe. I met Babe in 1983-1984. My Dad is Sonny, a long time childhood friend, and shared a lasting friendship throughout their life. They both were housemovers, friends and never enemies doing the same type of work. Babe was a family friend with our entire family. My memory of Babe is of comfort. It starts in 1983 when my Dad and some of his daughters moved to Hauula to work with Babe. My first impression of Babe was "Wow, he's big like King Kamehameha". I'll never forget that day. Over time I grew to know Babe, and grew to meet his big family too. Babe was a pillar in his family. He took care of everybody in his family; from his Mom to his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews plus the community. Although he was married and had 3 daughters, he made time for his big family. Most of his family surrounded amongst him. A sister of mines lost a baby during this time in Hauula, and Babe made sure my sister didn't go without during this difficult time. He made time for everyone and checked up on everyone too. Another sister had a 1st Baby Luau in Hauula and Babe and Pam made sure the Luau was a success. Pam was a cook, she could cook anything and her cooking was always in batches. In business, he helped so many people for free or minimal charge, that's what stuck out about Babe. He had so much love for everybody, whether he knew you or not, he would give you whatever he could, even if that was the last dollar he had on him. I grew to love Babe as an Uncle. He had this old-school mentality - you give what you can, even if you no can! I left Hauula a few years later. Over time I would run into him because of work related. About 10 years ago, my kids and I had all went to breakfast at Dot's in Wahiawa and I ran into Babe and Homer eating breakfast. I was very privileged to repay Babe by buying him breakfast. The memory I have is....A big Hawaiian man in a black truck with a kind and gentle heart. Fly with the angels Babe and know that you have made a lasting impact in my life and you will be blessed.
