Me and Donald Blanton had a God-given passion for the Letters of John Newton who is the author of "Amazing Grace"...We would write back and forth talking about this book. We would talk about many other things as well. By the Lord's will, I was able to meet him and his lovely wife Grace and the kids when they were young. The first time I met Donald was in 1990. He was full of joy, I was shy at the time, but he was easy to talk to. It was like we had been friends for many years prior to our first personal meeting. We remained friends despite living so far away. I will always remember him as a great Christian man who helped people in many ways and was always a defender of the faith! Now the Lord has called Donald home forever to be with Him.

Oh how this news breaks my heart to hear, for Charity and Elijah and their own families & children.

I once was very close with the Blanton’s. Mr. Blanton took me in and called him his second daughter, he was an extremely kind and generous man. He loved to provide for his family, they were his greatest pride. He was a good sport in being the photographer for every girl’s night out and event we had and he was always willing to throw down for an adventure. He even funded a flight for me to visit Charity as well as opening his home to me for a Summer When I needed a place to live. It was a honor to know him & his family. I will be praying for him and the whole family ❤️

I will always remember how generous and hospitable Donald was. He and Grace were my dear friends for many years. We had wonderful times of Christian fellowship-- reading God's Word, enjoying edifying sermons and praying together. I was treated to the most beautiful vacations with he and Grace. I have many fond and loving memories of our time together. My heart goes out to Charity and Elijah and their families. Both Donald and Grace are deeply missed and mourned. My prayer is for God's grace and mercy for those of us who remain -- and for me (specifically) to continue being a vessel in sharing the Gospel. I am grateful that the Lord allowed me to get to know Donald and Grace. Their friendship was such a treasured gift in my life. ❤️ Lots of love, hugs and prayers to Donald's friends and family.
