Celebrating the Life of Esther “Jenny” Kalakauaehu Hopu, 91, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was born on March 07, 1923 in Honolulu,Territory of Hawaii. She was a Retired Lead Food Prep for PAN AM’s Flight Kitchen.
She is survived by sons, Hiram B. “Reno” Hopu Jr and Weston N. (Tane) Kaili; daughters, Eleanor Ku‘uleiminamina (Richard) Mercado, Jaynee Leina‘ala (Bruce) Chamberlin and Nancy Perez; 10 grandchildren, Michele K. Mateo-Ostrowski, Rodney Hopu, Raydean Hopu, Kevin Hopu, Christopher Hopu, Lianne K. Mercado Esber, Marsha P. Mercado Hartley, Jason Kaipo Chamberlin, Jonathan Kealiiokalani Chamberlin and Kamahanaokeaku; 24 great-grandchildren, Chevelle, DJ, Moani, Kaili, Keala, Leilani, Hoku, Kawehi, U‘ilani, Kaimana, Aulani, Mahina, Kaleipono, Kaulana, Kamananui, Kanoelani, Kamana, Keali‘ihoomaluokeloa, Ulakaulawena, Ka‘ililaulani, Kawaihuihuiokekoahiwi, Kananiokuuhome, Ku‘uleialohamaipoinaole, Kamakaniokekai; 5 great great-grandchildren, Audrianna-Belle, Kahanu, Ikaika, Makana, Kekai, Katie and Kylie. Preceded in death by husband, Hiram B. Hopu Sr; daughter, Barbara Leilani Mateo-Kihano; grandson, Richard “Dickie Boy” Mercado and great-grandson, Nui Boy
Visitation will be held 10:30-11:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; services at 11:30 a.m. burial to follow 1:00p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
