Harriette "Billie" Juanita Manulani Simeona's Obituary
Harriette “Billie” Juanita Manulani Simeona, a resident of Waimanalo, Hawaii passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her home. Born to Clarence Hurley and Theresa Kinney in Honolulu, Hawai‘i T.H. on May 8, 1928. She was a retired reservationist with both the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Billie had truly humble beginnings, she grew up in the Lower Alewa Heights, Pu‘unui area on Iholena Street.
At the age of 13, she witnessed the historical moments that would change the face of the United States forever. While enroute to church on the morning of Sunday, December 7, 1941 she saw the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
She attended Waikiki Elementary School, St. Agustine School, and then went on to the Kamehameha Schools where she graduated with the class of 1946.
She was a beautiful, kind, loving and strong woman who was loved by her ‘ohana and everyone she met.
Billie is survived by her beloved husband, Ahoi Kealoha Simeona;
Kaleponi “Poni” (Stephen) Ventura (d), Kealoha (Wendell) Nascimento (d), Manu Meyer (d), Edward (Jackie) Simeona (s), Clarence (Noelle) Simeona (s), and Nancy Brenner (d); hanai daughters, Louella Simeona and Ahuena Lakalo; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and two angels enroute due in August 2016; sisters, Olivia "Pupu" Mattson and Ashlyn Luke.
Funeral service for Aunty Billie Simeona will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary (located at 45-425 Kamehameha Highway Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744); visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.; service to begin at 10:30 a.m.; burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter.
