Sorry, I did not know Ivan passed away until I returned from the Big Island on Jan 1st, and read the old newspapers..

I'm the Chief Mechanical Engineer at PHNSY C/260. I've known Ivan throughout his career at PHNSY, and I considered him to be the best X38 mechanic. I worked with him on many occasions, and often on the most complex difficult propulsion jobs. He was very sharp, and worked very hard with full confidence and skills. He had a great work ethic, and passed it on to the younger mechanics.. He enjoyed his job, as he would tell me not to retire, so that we can continue to work together..

I often talked to him about his roots on the Big Island, as I am also from the Big Island. He talked about the good times at Keokea Park, close to his childhood home.

I will miss Ivan, and I thank him for his tremendous contribution to PHNSY.

I have fond memories of your dad stopping by my office before and after the remodeling of Bldg 11. He would stop by early in the morning to get a cup of coffee on the way to his office and we always had a brief talk story (yardbird stuff). He was good man, a good friend, one who kept them fit to fight, and a memory I will always cherish.

Ivan was a dear friend, a man who loved with all of his heart and beyond, a man who will truly be missed by all who knew him. He always spoke with a profound love for his family, his face would beam with pride whenever he spoke of his daughters, and the grandbabies brought him more joy than you can imagine. His legacy will live on through his family, the life-long lessons he taught, whether at the workplace, baseball field - his devotion to family, although he will no longer be here physically, he will be in the hearts of all who love him. No more pain, only good times, until we meet again, Rest Forever in God's loving care. Jackie and Ohana - we are here for you. Today as we bid a fond Aloha to Ivan, we are blessed to have known a man who's heart was always giving.

We were a team of dedicated partners in working all propulsion equipment
We shared our kids lives with sports ⚽
🎂 birthdays and Watching WWF at the Auditorium but most of all he was a friend you could Always count on

When I first started softball at age 7. Uncle Ivan made a promise that he would come back and umpire when I got to High School. This video was my first varsity game at Aiea with Uncle Ivan behind the plate umpiring. A homerun I will never forget. This ones for you Uncle ❤️
