I first met Kawena when we paddled for Kaneohe Canoe Club about 13 years ago. Her smile, laughter, drive, and aloha was always contagious. I miss and love you Wena!

Kawena always had my back since day one... One memory I had was back in fourth grade, we were at camp pupukea. We were getting ready to have a tug of war or something and a boy cut in front of me and i said WTH? He laughed and stayed there. Then my lovely Kawena pushed him and said " hey you can't cut in front of Rina" ... N of course she and I got in trouble and were the chicks of the babooze crew for the rest of the camp, no swimming, no fun stuff. But it was ok cuz that's when we bonded. Kawena and I became great friends from that day forward, from paddling and going to Kauai with her and the whole family. I fell in love with the kawainui Ohana.. I will miss Kawena dearly but I'm glad she is watching over us with all the other Angels, uncle included xoxo
