Ulysses K Saromines
My Father Kenneth was a very Self Preserving Individual, and he Represented everything that was """OLD SCHOOL"""!!! I remember back in the 1970's Daddy used to take me go "Throw Net" around Maili Point on the Waianae Coast. He Kenneth explained that my Grandpa "Paul Kauka Naki" Showed him where All the "Fishing Holes" was to "Throw Net"!!! The biggest Life Long Lesson I've Learned from my Father was when he First Taught me "Ulysses" how to make "Crab Net"!!! from that day Forward I always had that "Special Feeling"!!! from this Learning Experience that my Father taught me, now I would like to Pass that Talent down to my Grandaughter some day... I Loved my Father Dearly, No Matter how Stubborn or how Set in his ways he may have been. It Humbled me to know that he Survived the """Great Depression"""!!!, Served in World War II in the Phillipines, Served the U.S. Government Assisting with Operation Hard Tack and Other Pre-Nuclear Test's 1950's, Served as a Naval Firefighter Lualualei Naval Magazine while Finishing out his Career and Retiring from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982 All in All with "33" Years of Federal Service. In between jobs my Father also was an Amateur Electrician, HAM Radio Operator, Sold Termite Medicine for LIN Chemicals and after he Retired as a Mailman from Nanakuli became a "Security Guard" for "Hawaiian Princess" Apartments for almost Two Years before Finally Semi-Retired Work assisting an Oriental Fellah whom had Contracts with First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawaii doing Landscaping...doing all of that reminds me of HOW RESOURCEFUL MY FATHER WAS...I'd like to Conclude that the most Prestigious Times of my Life and most Happiest Times was when my younger Sister Alicia and I Ulysses would go to the Beach with Mom Rebecca Leina'ala "PEKA" NAKI...My Father Kenneth and I would go Throw Net while my Sister and Mom would Spend Time together there at Maili Point gathering up Firewood and Starting the BBQ's. Those were the Good Ole Days...I Miss those Days and I'm sure my Sister Alicia do too 1970's...My last and Final Learning Experience was whe my Father Taught me how to WEAVE THOSE JAPANESE GLASS FLOATS!!! That would Wash Ashore in the Late 20th Century...Those Three Tiered Glass Floats are so Amazingly Awe Struck Looking at it back then, I Finally asked my Father if he could Teach me this ONE LAST PIECE OF "WOVEN ART"!!! And he did...MY HEART WAS VERY CONTENT AFTER HE SHOWED ME HOW IT'S WOVEN INTO SUCH A COMPLEX GRAPHIC AND NETWORK OF KNOTS, NETS AND NECKS...HE MY FATHER """KENNETH KERINO FLORES SAROMINES SR"""!!! TRULY WAS A "HERO", "WARRIOR", BUT, MOST OF ALL HE WAS A """JACK OF ALL TRADES"""!!! AND A """MASTER OF ONE-HIMSELF""" ! ! ! LOVE YOU PAPAH MAY YOUR LEGACY BE CARRIED ON IN THOSE """THREE TIERED GLASS FLOATS""" ! ! ! FOR ALL TIME & ETERNITY... ! ! ! Til We Meet again, Father we will BE IN PARADISE...!!! LOVE YOUR SON """ULYSSES KAWIKA KERINO FLORES "NAKI" SAROMINES SR...
