Lord God, our Nana was truly the bulwark of our family. She not only took care of our needs, but she also provided us with the spiritual wisdom that has guided us in our life journey with you. Whenever we strayed, she gently but firmly brought us back to you. Whenever we needed comfort, she was always there to wipe our tears. And whenever we were at a crossroad in our lives, she shared the insights she had learned from you. Sadness fills our hearts because she is no longer with us, more so Lord that we are unable to attend the celebration of her love and life at St. Philomena Catholic Church today Sept. 1, 2020, but we know that she is with you, and that, dear God, gives us abiding comfort.
My Aunt always remembered the names of her 5 nieces from her brother Rodrigo. I loved visiting her in Hawaii. I looked forward to her singing and spicy personality. I will very much miss that huge aspect in my future visits to Hawaii. Rest in peace Auntie, you've lived a long, productive and successful life. Mary
My name is Olivio Arios and I have a very fond and lasting memories of my Aunt Leonora Arios Aoalin. My father Nicomedes Arios was her cousin. They both spent their early childhood in Makaweli in the Island of Kauai. They also survived a month long journey (by ship) to the Philippines in the mid 1920s. She has treated me as if I am one of her children. When my father passed away in 1974, she was there to comfort me. When I first came to Hawaii, she welcomed me into their home, she was there when I got married, and she was also there when my son was born. When my son Michael was one year old, you were so worried that you may not see him grow up, but you did, he is now 26 years old. You will forever be in our memories.
