Leonora Arios Aoalin's Obituary
In the early 1920’s, Baldomero Arios along with his wife Gregoria Constantino, and two sons Rodrigo and Federico immigrated to the island of Kauai, Hawaii. One of his sons, Federico didn’t make it to Hawaii, he got sick and died during their journey. He was buried in Hong Kong. Leonora Arios was born in Waimea, Makaweli on the island of Kauai, Hawaii on June 21, 1922. In 1926, Baldomero brought his young family back to the Philippines with the exception of Rodrigo Arios. Leonora Arios grew up in the Philippines and married Guillermo Aoalin. They have 6 children, Eladio, Pedro, Florida, Conchita, Paciencia and Amparo. In 1968, Leonora was honored as “Mother of the Year” at East Central School in Gabaldon, Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. When Hawaii became a part of the United States, the Aoalin family was invited to immigrate to the United States due to Leonora’s U.S. Citizenship by birth. Guillermo and Leonora and their children immigrated to the United States in early 1962. Their family’s journey was completed in 1971. When in Hawaii, Leonora helped to supplement livelihood for her family by working as a seamstress aside from being a home maker. Guillermo passed away in 2013 at the age of 92. Leonora passed away on August 16, 2020. She was 98 years old. She was survived by her 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
