Sometime around her 90th birthday, Aunt Marge flew to Maryland to visit her sisters, Roberta and Ann. Her daughters Gail and Karen joined the party that boarded the Cape May-Lewes Ferry for the 17-mile, 75-minute ride from the Delaware beaches to the New Jersey shore. We all remember Marge’s extreme excitement to be on the ferry that day. Doubtless, she had been on much larger ferries during her world travels. (Our Ferry is as long as a football field and holds 100 cars.) And, Marge had spent weeks on various ocean liners around the globe. Still, she delighted in this simple ride. The Ferry staff sent a belated birthday postcard to Honolulu; it promised a free crossing whenever Marge returned.

Mom and I traveled on a Mediterranean Cruise and went to Ephesus, Turkey. It was sweltering hot that day (over 100 degrees) and many of the older people on the shore excursion elected to stay on the air conditioned bus instead of walking around the ruins of Ephesus. A young girl and I were the only two from the bus who went to explore the ruins. We were able to shop at a small bazar before getting back on the bus. When I returned to the bus, mom had also shopped at the same bazar. And yes, you guessed it, we bought the SAME THING! We each bought a 'bejeweled dagger" that we thought my brother DOUG would enjoy.

I also have to mention that when we were on our way home from Barcelona, I was carrying Mom's carry-on bag through the airport for her. I put it through the metal detector and immediately was pulled to the side. The officer pulled out THE DAGGER from Mom's bag and looked AT ME! I then pointed AT MOM (who looked so sweet and innocent with her cane). Luckily I had my "work credentials" with me and we were allowed to take it home with us...TALK ABOUT ADVENTURE!

Mom and I shared a very special bond in that we both enjoyed travel and adventure. Once while preparing for a cruise to Alaska, we went to the Dress Barn to look for a nice dress for the "Captain's Dinner" on board. She looked on one side of the store and I looked on the other. When we met at the cashier, we had both selected THE SAME DRESS!! She started to put the dress back saying that I probably didn't want to be wearing the same dress as her. I told her why not! Since we both had great taste we each bought the dress and wore it together on that special night!

Aunt Marge ! Well first , growing up we traveled to my Grandmother’s home in Pipestone. All of us cousins made haunted houses in the infamous attic and then we would come down for Aunt Marge and Grandma’s homemade ice cream !

Secondly, when I began working for a major airline, my family and I traveled to Honolulu . Aunt Marge took us around , one of the days , to all the amazing beaches and sites ! Then she and Doug , Phillip, Karen and Cole treated us to an amazing meal that out rivaled the best luau on the island !

Rest in peace aunt Marge and may your family be comforted by our almighty Lord and Savior Jesus as you navigate life without your beloved mother and grandmother !

in honor of Marjorie.

The first time I remember Marge was when my parents sent Debby and me to spend the summer in Kealakekua with Aunt Fran and Uncle Cush. Planes didn't do direct flights in 1960 so it was arranged wed spend the night with Margie and George and their little kids. We were dubious, not really knowing them, but we were welcomed. I think of Marge and smell the moist, fragrant air of Hawaii at the same time. Aloha, my cousin. Give love to our family.
