I was blessed to know Matt for 25 years. I became his brother-in-law when I married his sister-in-law.
I will always remember and now miss talking story and how much fun I had with Matt at family get togethers, the drag races, and BINGO haha.
I still can picture the day he came to help my Grandma Robello by pouring and finishing her driveway in Kailua for just lunch and some cold beverages. That driveway is so strong you could probably park a D11 on it with no cracks.
But that was Matt: big hearted, kind, funny, smart, helpful, and loving. It was obvious to anyone that knew Matt that he deeply loved and respected his parents and siblings. He was also a loyal friend but, I think his most prominent quality in my mind was the love for and pride in his children. I would watch his face light up at the sight of his children. His displays of love made me think of this verse of scripture which pretty much sums up my thoughts.
