Robert Alton Burns Jr.'s Obituary
Robert “Boy” Alton Burns, Jr., was born on April 3, 1947 at Tripler Medical Center on Oahu. He was the second child, and only son of Robert Alton & Florence Burns, Sr. of Wailuku, Maui.
He grew up on the island of Maui, where he attended Kihei Elementary School and graduated from H.P. Baldwin High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1965 - 1972.
He married his life partner and best friend, Irene “Nina” “Betty” Ilima Thompson, on April 27, 1968. They welcomed their only child, a son, Robert “Robbie” “Red” Alton Burns, III, on September 22, 1968. They lived in Kaneohe.
Robert was the Manager of Delivery & Operations for Hardware Hawaii in Kapolei, where he recently celebrated 29 years of service.
He loved travelling to San Pedro, California and Las Vegas, Nevada for annual family reunions.
Robert is survived by his sisters, Karen “Sweetheart” (Sherman) Tom Sun and Audrey “Michi” (Rodney) Teixeira and granddaughter, Kalia Burns-Smith. He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene, and son, Robbie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with service at 11:00 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, with burial to follow, at 1:30 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, 47-200 Kahekili Hwy, Kaneohe. The family request casual/aloha attire.
