Rudi passed away at Castle Medical Center on December 15th, 2014, in the arms of his loving wife Pam. Rudi was born in Nordlingen, Germany on March 24th, 1932. He started learning to be a mechanic at the young age of 14. He worked in Switzerland and England before meeting Pam and moving to Honolulu in 1958. Reini, his brother, followed him to Honolulu and together they formed European Car Service, a Volkswagen repair shop in Kaka’ako. Rudi and Reini worked together for more than 40 years and at the young age of 70, Rudi retired. Rudi’s life was filled with sailing, traveling, enjoying his beautiful home, his many German Shepherds, children, grandchildren and his beautiful sea green Jaguar. After retirement he enjoyed taking stain glass classes. He was very artistic and could fix anything. Everyone who met Rudi loved him, he was everyone’s best neighbor and his yard was beautiful.
